Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas have already turned into a tourist hotspot in winter as a rise in footfall has been witnessed at Dimna Lake, Jubilee Park, Narwa Pahad and Dalma foothills in the city.
Parks, riversides and other spots are seeing visitors, especially from West Bengal, because of its short distance from Jamshedpur.
Sukumar Mukherjee, a banker from Hoogly district, visited the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary last Sunday along with a group of 15 people.He said, “It was a pleasant stay at the Pinderbera rest house as a lot of accommodation options were available in Dalma Sukumar.”
“Many of us come for short trips to Jamshedpur. There are loads of tourists from Bengal because firstly we love to explore and secondly Jamshedpur and its nearby areas can be covered within a weekend. We have already visited Ghatshila and Dimna and had planned for the sanctuary stay this year. Though we could not spot any wild elephants, maybe next time,” said Mukherjee.
Other tourists who visited Jamshedpur said that winters can be fully enjoyed here as the sky is clear during this time reflecting the golden hues of the sun which adds to the picnic mood for the visitors. Ghatshila, Burudih dam, Chandil and Amadubi rural tourism centre and must visits among tourists.
“Last year, we visited the Amadubi rural tourism centre in Dhalbhumgarh and also covered Ghatshila, Dimna and Jubilee Park. We usually reach early in the morning and that gives us ample time to cover more than one destination,” said Sabyasachi Basu from Khardah who is planning to visit Chandil dam ear

Tourist raped at Morjim
A 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra was allegedly raped in a hotel at Morjim. She had come to Goa on Wednesday with her friends. When her boyfriend left the room, she fell asleep, and another person entered. Thinking it was her boyfriend, she cooperated, but later realized it wasn’t him and shouted for help. The accused fled by jumping from the window. A rape case has been registered against the unidentified person.
