Tourism gets a boost with new air services – Times of India


Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Thursday launched the PM Shri Tourism Air Service and PM Shri Religious Tourism Heli Service connecting important cities to promote religious tourism. Speaking on the occasion he emphasized the vast geographical expanse of the state and outlined the plans to introduce helicopter services to Datia, Maihar, Orchha, and other significant sites, drawing a parallel to the air service connecting Indore to Mahakaleshwar and Mamleshwar temples. The focus is on expanding air travel to key religious and tourist spots such as Kanha and Bandhavgarh. The state govt aims to integrate existing religious pilgrimage schemes with these new initiatives, fully funded by the state.CM inaugurated both schemes by remotely activating two airplanes and a helicopter. An MoU was signed between the tourism board and Jet Air Service (Flyola) for the operation of the PM Shri Tourism Air Service. CM Yadav granted letters of acknowledgement for the operation of airstrips in Jhabua, Khargone, and Mandla.Principal secretary tourism and culture, Sheo Shekhar Shukla, disclosed the signed contract with Flyola to ensure the smooth operation of the PM Shri Tourism Air Service. The operator will select the flight route, establish ticket counter, and train local staff within a two-month timeframe. The service will operate two 8-seater twin-engine aircraft connecting major airports in MP. Under the PM Shri Religious Tourism Heli Service, devotees will have easier access to spiritual centers like Ujjain, Omkareshwar. This service will include one twin-engine helicopter in Bhopal, and single-engine helicopters in Indore and Ujjain, catering to the needs of elderly and disabled devotees. Online bookings can be made through MP Tourism portal and other designated platforms.
