Sai launches book to promote tourism and tribal culture – Times of India

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the “Tribes of Bastar” coffee table book published by the forest department of Chhattisgarh. The chief minister was attending the Chitrakote Mahotsav on Tuesday, which is underway in Bastar. The director of Kanger Valley National Park Dhammashil Ganvir said that through this book, the unique connection of Bastar’s tribal community with their forests, their ancient knowledge system, traditional medicine, unique art, culture of faith in forests, local music, and dance, etc., has been depicted. Forest minister Kedar Kashyap, BJP state president, and Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Singh Dev, Chitrakote MLA Vinayak Goyal were present. The book will be helpful in promoting tourism in Bastar to the people from India and abroad by helping them to learn about the tribal culture of Bastar and their deep relationship with their forests, said Ganvir.An official of forest department said that the photographs in the book showcase the unique customs, traditions, festivals, local fairs. He said the book documents the nuances of Dhurwa tribal community residing in and around Kanger Valley. He added that the book depicts the special relationship that tribal community hold with the forests.
