Things are not really going well between India and the Maldives, after honourable PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep. Bollywood stars are taking to social media to express support for the Indian island. Celebrities such as Salman Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, and Shraddha Kapoor are encouraging people to discover the beauty of the Lakshadweep islands. Ranveer Singh also advocated for domestic tourism but mistakenly shared a 2016 Maldives picture instead of Lakshadweep in a tweet. After a few netizens pointed out the error, the actor promptly deleted the tweet and later posted a note without any pic.

Maldives-Lakshadweep Row

On January 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep, sharing pictures of himself enjoying the islands and snorkeling. The pics grabbed netizens’ attention, with some people suggesting that Lakshadweep is a great tourist spot, even comparing it to the Maldives. However, a few political leaders in the Maldives made disrespectful remarks about it. This led to a swift response from Indian internet users, and celebrities expressed support for PM Modi’s Lakshadweep visit.

Talking about Ranveer, the actor was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Alia Bhatt. The film was helmed by Karan Johar. He will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again alongside wifey, Deepika Padukone. Besides, the film boasts a stellar star cast including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Kareena Kapoor. The film is slated to release later in 2024. The makers are yet to announce the release date.
