Pilibhit: Forest authorities are planning four new tourist huts at Sapt Tal, a picturesque site in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR), keeping in view the increasing footfall at Chuka ecotourism spot, said senior officials at ecotourism session’s inaugural ceremony on Wednesday.PTR divisional forest officer Naveen Khandelwal said the new huts will be prepared by mid-December. “Sapt Tal will be a new destination for tourists as visitors have been staying at four Tharu huts, one tree, and a water hut structured at Chuka. The state government has allocated Rs 1.6 crore for embellishment of Sapt Tal and beautiful huts. This spot reflects immense natural beauty due to its terraced waterfall and a mini lake.”Chuka, located amid the dense forest of Mahof forest range, is visited by thousands of tourists every season, while it can accommodate merely 12 persons for a night stay at its six huts.“The footfall at Chuka was 14,172 in 2014-15 ecotourism season, the year when the reserve came into existence. However, over the past eight years, it went up gradually to 23,579 in 2022-23 session marking an increase of around 60%. This is the major reason for optional arrangements of accommodation,” Khandelwal added.
