Positive feedback received on Dufferin County’s tourism logo at the IPM

The rebranding of Dufferin’s Tourism sector is off to a great start with positive feedback received from community members and visitors at the International Plowing Match (IPM).

In August, Dufferin County’s economic development manager Yaw Ennin presented a rollout plan for rebranding the tourism division of the county. With the IPM being hosted in Dufferin County, Ennin and his team used it as an opportunity to see what people thought of the logo.

At the Nov. 23, community development and tourism committee meeting, responses from a three-minute tourism survey were shared which included opinions on the new logo.

“There were over 1,000 responses to this particular question on our survey,” Ennin said. “The results were that 91 per cent of the respondents stated that they either liked or loved the new Dufferin County Tourism logo.”

One person shared how they appreciated each icon that was on the logo as it represented all the things that are associated to the county.

“It does represent many activities that are here and available in different counties so that’s an awesome part of it,” Gail Little, deputy mayor of Amaranth, said.

Six per cent of people felt neutral about it and three per cent stated that did not like the new logo. Ennin said he was very pleased with the results and that it was very positive feedback.

“It’s also important to point out that based on all the data that we collected from the people that visited the IPM were the ideal set of folks that we want to attract with a logo and a brand like this,” Ennin said. “These are people with ample time, disposable income and folks who can come into our communities, engage with our tourism assets and spend money within our economy.”

Now knowing this information, Dufferin Tourism will be creating a website where the logo will be featured heavily. The website will be a central hub of everything related to tourism in the county.

Ennin wants people to recognize the brand and the logo to increase digital marketing and social media views.
