Jaipur: In a bid to boost tourism, the state tourism department has decided to provide the luxury train, Palace on Wheels, for destination weddings along with pre-and post-wedding shoots on Friday. Tourism minister Diya Kumari said, “The move will give a huge boost to destination weddings in Rajasthan. In addition, it will attract more foreign tourists to the state, its art, culture and Vedic marital customs.”“It will be a memorable event for couples opting for destination weddings with the Palace on Wheels. They will also play the role of tourist ambassadors for Rajasthan and India,” she said.For the high-end train service and the state, the new plan will increase revenues while creating new opportunities in the tourism sector.The state has 75% of the country’s heritage properties, giving it an edge in the country for destination weddings.“The market for destination weddings runs into crores, with clients from both domestic and international markets. The train service will be a new addition that will enhance the experience of clients. The charter service will be made available for wedding parties travelling from one destination to another,” said a source.Districts like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, among other districts, have forts, palaces, and mansions that have attracted domestic and foreign tourists to hold such weddings. Most of these destinations have railway stations, providing direct connectivity.
