Over the years, the government of Tamil Nadu has focused its attention on the tourism sector. In the wake of this development, the authorities are also introducing novel facilities to make sightseeing easier for tourists. The electric car is parked near the entrance gate of the Botanical Garden. Apart from the ticket fee of the park, the visitors have to pay an extra Rs 30 to avail the benefits of this vehicle. A total of 7 to 8 people can travel inside the battery vehicle at once. It is primarily used for elderly people as they find it hard to cover the entire garden at once. This is the first time that such a vehicle has been introduced in the park. Although, this is not the first time that electric vehicles have been used for this purpose. Several resorts and hotels also use this facility for their guests.

The Botanical Garden is 2.6 km from the Ooty Bus Stand. You can reach this tourist destination via Commercial Road. This garden was laid out in 1897 by the Marquis of Tweedale. A 20 million-year-old fossilized tree is one of the highlights of this garden.
