The Muthukora hills in Poonjar, Kottayam, have been attracting attention following the widespread circulation of images depicting the area on various social media platforms. It is a must-visit spot that can rival the much-loved Meesapulimala in terms of the scenic beauty it offers.
The location, which runs parallel to the Vagamon hills and has off-road trekking features, will undoubtedly provide adventure seekers with the thrill of a lifetime. Muthukora mala can be reached by Kaippally, Kunnoni, or Entayar. It should be warned, however, that the ascent is fairly steep, with limited roads.
Meanwhile, there are no facilities available at this spot. At the entry point of the hill, there are some warning boards displayed. The ‘take-a-break’ shed at the halfway point of the climb is still under construction. There is also no clear pathway for a downhill walk from the top of the hill, as the path is very narrow.
Visitors should exercise caution and avoid visiting the area during extreme weather conditions. To avoid the risk of visitors losing their way due to the early onset of darkness, it is recommended to commence trekking early and allow ample time to return before nightfall.
