Chandigarh: The government is making efforts to develop eco-tourism and adventure and water sports tourism in the state, said Anmol Gagan Maan, minister for tourism and cultural affairs and investment promotion. Maan was speaking at the Punjab Day function celebrated on Saturday evening during the ongoing India International Trade Fair 2023. Addressing a gathering, the minister said the state government was leaving no stone unturned to explore every aspect of the tourism area to ensure that NRI Punjabis, along with both international and domestic travellers, could fully experience the richness and authentic essence of Punjab’s cultural and historical heritage. Maan said it was for the first time that the heritage fairs and festivals were being organised by the Punjab government for which a budget of Rs 15 crore had been allocated. She also said the tourism summit organised by the Punjab government during the current year was a huge success and the government aimed to make the state frontrunner in terms of tourism in the country.

The ambassador of India to Uzbekistan, Manish Prabhat, suggested that Goa should position itself as a medical tourism hub and emphasized the need to promote Goa among tour and travel agents in Uzbekistan and nearby central Asian countries.

How to promote tourism around Taj? YEIDA to ready master plan

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is preparing a master plan for the Agra region, focusing on boosting tourism and green industries along the expressway. Approximately 25% of the land will be allocated for industrial development, 20% for residential purposes, and 7% for tourism around the Taj Mahal. YEIDA expects an increase in foreign tourist footfall with the opening of the Noida International Airport next year. The plan will be separate from the YEIDA master plan 2041 and aims to develop the area by 2031, emphasizing the establishment of a robust hospitality industry and promoting green industries.
