New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep has brought a lot of island to the island destination with an unbelievable increase in Google searches for the place as well as a positive buzz around it. As PM Modi shared pictures from his visit to Lakshadweep, he highlighted the beauty and activities it offers for people who love beach holidays. Soon after, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy also made a pitch for the destination appealing the countrymen to visit Lakshadweep.
G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said, “no need to go to New Zealand or Switzerland” as the Union Territory has a huge tourism potential.
“Lakshadweep has huge potential from the tourism point of view. Recently, the Prime Minister also visited Lakshadweep. It will be a tourist destination in the coming times,” he said.
But the air connectivity is not that good and the minister acknowledged the same.However, the good news is that the government is planning to build an airport in Lakshadweep very soon.
“There has to be an airport; the government is working on it. There is connectivity from Kerala but air connectivity is required. There is no need to go to New Zealand or Switzerland. Everything is in Lakshadweep. People themselves have to become ambassadors,” Tourism Minister Reddy told ANI.
Lakshadweep was the most searched keyword on the Google search engine for two consecutive days since Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Union Territory and shared a few photos of the picturesque archipelago.
PM Modi’s Lakshadweep Visit Makes A Buzz
The interest in the Union Territory peaked on Friday, as more than 50,000 users searched for it on Google after the Prime Minister said that he is “still in awe” of the “stunning” beauty of the islands and the “incredible warmth” of its people.
During his stay, he soaked in the beauty of the island and urged travellers to explore it. He was also seen indulging in water sport activities as she shared pics from his snorkelling experience.
PM Modi tweeted, “In addition to the scenic beauty, Lakshadweep’s tranquility is also mesmerising. It gave me an opportunity to reflect on how to work even harder for the welfare of 140 crore Indians.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had affirmed the Central government’s commitment to develop Lakshadweep, one of the Union Territories of the country.The PM, while addressing a public gathering in Lakshadweep’s Agatti said that his government is addressing all the challenges faced by the people of the UT, including health and education.
“Be it health, education, petrol or diesel, people faced a lot of problems in the past. Our government is now addressing all these challenges… New employment opportunities are being created in many sectors. The Government of India is committed to the development of Lakshadweep,” PM Modi said.
