A 42-year-old tourist from Gujarat’s Vadodara, who was visiting a resort in Naneghat area in Junnar taluka, drowned in Kukadi river on Saturday while he entered the water to swim.
His body was taken out of the river nearly after four hours of the incident, said Pune rural police, who have identified the deceased as Sanjay Balmukund Kedia (42), a resident of Sun Pharma Road in Vadodara.

Kedia and his three friends were staying at a resort in Naneghat area — nearly 125 km from Pune city. “Kedia and friends were staying at a resort in the area. On Saturday afternoon, some of them entered the Kukadi river at 1.30 pm. Amidst a sudden strong current in the water… Kedia was washed away and drowned,” said an officer from Junnar police station. A case of sudden accidental death has been registered.
