Glider crashes into tree in Himachal Pradesh, tourist safe – Times of India

KULLU: A woman tourist and three pilots had a narrow escape after their paragliders crash-landed due to a windstorm in Dhalpur near Kullu town on Wednesday afternoon. The woman tourist, identified as Vaishnavi from Karnataka, along with the pilot, landed on a tree and were rescued by a team of fire department and police officials.

The pilot had taken off with the woman tourist from Peej, a recently-opened paragliding take off site near Kullu, and during landing on the Dhalpur Dussehra ground, strong winds swept them away. As the pilot tried to land again in the high wind, the paraglider moved down and crashed into a tree in front of the forest department guest house.

By then, onlookers had alerted the local police. A rescue team immediately reached the spot and brought down the tourist and the pilot, both of whom did not suffer any injuries. Two other solo pilots, who had also taken off from the Peej around the same time, also crash landed. “The first landed near Kala Kendra and the second at the Exhibition Ground in Dhalpur, way off the landing site,” said a police officer.
