A 61-year-old French tourist died inside the Fatehpur Sikri fort Thursday after she fell from a nine-feet-high platform following the collapse of a wooden railing.

The deceased has been identified as Esma Boudjakbji Ben Yelles, a resident of a town around 3 kilometre from Paris. Officials said that she was a part of a group of 36 tourists who had arrived at Agra after visiting Jodhpur. Esma’s husband Ben Yelles was also a part of the group.
The woman was taken to the S N Medical College in Agra, which is around 40 kilometre from Fatehpur Sikri. It took around 45 minutes for the ambulance to arrive at the spot.

The woman was later shifted to Ujala Cygnus Rainbow, a private Hospital in Sikandra, where she was declared dead.
Officials said that the dead body has been sent for postmortem and the report is awaited.
Officials added that an inquiry has been ordered and appropriate action will be taken if any negligence is found.
