Shimla: To give impetus to the religious tourism in the state, the government is mulling to connect a few religious shrines with ropeways for easy accessibility and is strengthening the existing infrastructural facilities as well.In this series, an aerial ropeway, measuring 1.1 km, is proposed for Chintpurni temple in Una district at an estimated outlay of Rs 76.50 crore. The modern transportation system will facilitate 700 passengers per hour, significantly enhancing the overall pilgrim experience.The Chintpurni temple holds great historical and spiritual significance. It is recognised as one of the ‘Shakti Peeths’ and is the most sacred shrines in Himachal Pradesh. Currently, the access to the temple is limited to a single-lane road from the Baba Mai Dass Bhawan parking area.On occasions like Navaratra, overcrowding and congestion have been persistent issues, and the introduction of the ropeway will be a vital step in addressing these challenges. It also aligns with the state government’s vision to enhance religious tourism in the state. The installation of the ropeway system at Chintpurni temple is expected to not only relieve the congestion but also ensure safe and unhindered movement of the pilgrims. The ambitious project is poised to boost the tourism in the region and further encourage devotees to visit the revered temple as a prominent pilgrimage destination in India.

A consortium led by FIL Industries has started work on the Dehradun Mussoorie Ropeway Project (DMRP), which will be India’s longest ropeway at 5.5 km long. The districts have popular temples, but the absence of an airport in the region hinders connectivity. The lack of air connectivity has been a long-standing demand, with residents and political leaders alike expressing their concerns. Establishing a domestic airport in Jalore or Sirohi would not only boost tourism but also contribute to the region’s economy.

Hindu temple in US raided by burglars

Burglars raided a Hindu temple in California, stealing a donation box and leaving the Indian community in shock. The incident occurred at the Hari Om Radha Krishna Mandir in the Parkway neighbourhood. The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the burglary, which involved six suspects captured on surveillance video. No arrests have been made, and the incident is being treated as a potential hate crime. The Coalition of Hindus of North America has called on the police to take the matter seriously. The thieves were seen breaking through doors and escaping with the 100-pound donation box.
