Bulgaria’s tourist overnights revenue grows 16% y/y in Aug

October 10 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s revenue from tourist overnights grew by an annual 15.8% to 522.6 million levs ($281.4 million/267.2 million euro) in August, the statistical office said on Tuesday.

Revenue from foreign visitors went up by 16.3% year-on-year to 369.9 million levs in the review month, while revenue from domestic tourists increased by 14.6% to 152.6 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.

The total number of tourist overnights added 2.9% in annual terms to 6.33 million in August. Overnights spent by foreign citizens amounted to roughly 4 million.

In August, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria rose by 3.9% to 1.54 million. Of them, 834,609 were foreign visitors, up 5.9% on the year, while Bulgarian nationals increased by 1.5% to 705,931, the NSI said.
