Agra: Three vital flight routes from Agra ceased operations on Monday. Agra airport director Neeraj Srivastava said the flights linking Agra to Jaipur, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad have been stopped due to a shortage of aircraft.Despite being home to iconic sites like the Taj Mahal, Agra has struggled with inadequate air links to major cities nationwide. With the termination of three of six flights, Agra now has air connections only to Mumbai, Lucknow, and Bengaluru.The decision by the Airports Authority of India to halt these flights has sparked concerns among local businesses. Shakeel Chauhan, the national general secretary of the Tourist Guide Federation of India, said, “Terminating flights to these three cities will impact Agra’s tourism and hospitality industry, which is its economic backbone. The claim of aircraft shortage seems dubious, as many smaller cities remain unaffected. Data also indicates profitability in Agra-bound flights.”
